Frequently Asked Questions

What do you teach?

We teach Tang Soo Do, a traditional Korean martial art. It looks similar to karate or taekwondo, with an additional focus on self-defense and escaping from attackers (as opposed to “fighting”).

What is the youngest age for your classes?

Our Panthers Program is designed for students in grades K-2, but this also depends on individual maturity. We have successfully trained mature 4 year-olds.

Do you train adults?

Absolutely! Self-motivated adults do very well in our Authentic Tang Soo Do program, regardless of age or physical ability.

Can I train in the same class with my child?

Absolutely! We are a family-run school, and we know understand what a great experience it can be for parents to train with their children. Our Authentic Tang Soo Do classes allow children who are at least in the 3rd grade to share the training floor with their parents.

Do I need to “get into shape” before I start?

Nope! You will receive individual attention in every class, and all activities will take into account your personal fitness level and physical abilities. Our classes will help you get into shape while you learn valuable self-defense skills!

How much are classes?

There are two charges to consider:

  • One-time Enrollment Fee - the first time you sign up for a class, there is a $75 joining fee (per student). If you sign up at least two weeks before the session starts, you will receive a $10 credit on your first tuition invoice.

  • Session Tuition - there are different tuition rates, depending on whether it is a 6-week or 9-week session, how many days per week you wish to attend, and whether you wish to pay in installments. For a 9-week session, twice per week, with a single payment, tuition is $280. Please download our Pricing Brochure to see other options.

Do I have to sign a membership contract?

Not at all. We do not believe that students should ever be forced to continue paying for something that they have lost interest in. We also know that families cannot always predict their long-term finances or circumstances. You are never “on the hook” for for than the current session you are enrolled in.

Do I have to buy a uniform and other gear?

Your first uniform is included with your one-time enrollment fee. Sparring gear is not required until students have reached advanced ranks.

How much are testing fees?

Up until Black Belt, testing and promotion fees are included with your tuition. (As you compare our pricing with others, make sure you understand what testing and promotion will cost you!)

Do you offer trial classes?

You are welcome to make an appointment to observe any class that you are interested in. We believe in giving 100% of our attention to our enrolled students during class, and we therefore cannot accommodate trial students on the training floor. (Free classes and even multi-week trial programs are often offered by other schools because they require you to sign a lengthy contract in order to continue training. We never ask you to sign a contract, and although we would love for you to train with us continuously throughout the year, you are under no such obligation!)

How do I sign up?

You can reserve your spot in the next session by paying the one-time enrollment fee of $75*). Use our online registration link.

*If you register at least two weeks before the start of the session, $10 will be credited towards your first tuition payment. If the class you are interested in is operating on a waitlist, your enrollment fee will reserve your position on the list. If no spot opens up on the waitlist, your enrollment fee will be refunded.
