At Eagledove Martial Arts, we teach traditional Tang Soo Do to adults and children. We are family-run, and our flexible family-friendly programs allow our students to fit their training into otherwise busy lives. All of our instructors and ranks are certified by the International Tang Soo Do Federation. We also offer classes in Qi Gong (a close relative to Tai Chi), a holistic system of coordinated body posture and movement, breathing, and meditation used for the purposes of health, spirituality, and martial arts training.
We have enacted measures to allow our students to train as safely as possible while everyone deals with the reality of COVID-19. In order to provide a larger training area for our students and instructors (where students will have much more space to spread out), WE HAVE MOVED to a new location as of the Early Fall 2020 session! Classes are held in Fellowship Hall at the Mountain Island Community Church. (This is just one mile from our current location, at 4316 Mt. Holly-Huntersville Rd., Charlotte NC 28216.) Students are spaced at least nine feet apart from each other during all classes. Face coverings are required for all indoor classes. Our studio is equipped with MERV-13 filters and doors are left open whenever possible. All individuals entering the studio must pass a temperature check.
Tang Soo Do originated approximately 2,000 years ago on the Korean peninsula. It is sometimes referred to as "Korean Karate", and it's "hard" kicking and striking skills are the basis for the sport known as Taekwondo. Tang Soo Do also incorporates the "soft" self-defense techniques of escapes and joint locks that are often seen in martial arts such as Hapkido and Aikido. The equal emphasis on "hard" and "soft" techniques makes Tang Soo Do practitioners into extremely well-balanced martial artists. This balance is also emphasized by our name, Eagledove Martial Arts. As the dove, we strive for peaceful solutions; as the eagle, we have the strength to fight for justice.
